Change Their Future!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Studies show that children who are proficient in reading by 3^rd grade typically excel throughout their academic career! Similar studies indicate that students who are behind in their reading
proficiency CAN catch up by increasing the amount of time and intensity they spend learning to read. One significant way this can be accomplished is through providing small group guided reading opportunities 30 minutes a day. We have a number of students in grades K-3 who are below grade level proficiency and together we have the opportunity to change their future!
This year we are calling for volunteers to commit to work with our teachers facilitating guided reading groups in grades K-3. To make it more convenient, we have blocked the first 30 minutes of the school day so that you can arrive with your child for school, work with a guided reading group for 30 minutes, and still have the rest of the day! We will train you, and you will be under the supervision/guidance of one of our teachers. What do you get out of it? Not only will you get to enjoy the best part of Vanguard Classical School, spending time with our students, but more importantly, you will know without a doubt that you play a significant role in the lives of a group of students; that
you will change their future. We will have additional information and a sign-up at the required Back to School Nights as well as at the Meet and Greet. Together let’s change their future. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Principal Slechta at tslechta@vcsk8.org.

July 22 Meeting

If you are interested in coordinating an event or being a part of an event committee, please come to our volunteer meeting at Señor Ric's at 13200 E. Mississippi Ave, Aurora, Co 80012, Wednesday, July 22 at 5:30 p.m. We will share the 2009-10 FSCP calendar of events at the meeting and assign committees.
